A sheriff’s department helicopter crashed into our client’s apartment home, immediately killing her. Our client was an elderly unmarried woman with no children, spouse, or living parents. Although this was a state-owned helicopter and there were sovereign immunity monetary caps of $200K, we were still able to secure a recovery that far exceeded what the defense or the state believed they should have had to pay.
